RepConnect chat
RepConnect has an AI chat assistant, on the directory website and in the RepConnect mobile apps, that answers questions about RepConnect listings: manufacturers, their reps, their literature and videos. It needs no account. This section covers what it handles and for how long.
What the assistant receives
Your messages and the earlier messages of the same conversation, the state you said you cover (if you named one), the manufacturer page or screen you opened the chat from, and the directory listings it looks up to answer: names, territories, folders, and document and video titles, but never phone numbers, email addresses or links (those go straight onto the result cards). It does not receive your IP address, your chat identifier or anything else about your browser or device. Please don't type personal information the question doesn't need.
Who processes it
Answers are generated by Anthropic's Claude models through Anthropic's API, acting as our processor. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models, and deletes it within 30 days unless it is flagged under Anthropic's usage policy or must be kept by law. We make no claim about the region where it is processed.
Conversation history
Conversations are stored on our servers, so a conversation survives reloading the page or reopening the app (the apps list your past conversations), and are deleted after 90 days without activity. The state you said you cover is kept with your identifier so the assistant need not ask again, and is deleted 180 days after your last chat. Both are linked to a random identifier, not to your name or email.
RepConnect staff may read conversations to improve the assistant and the listings. They see the conversation, its date, the manufacturer page it was opened from, and whether it came from the website or an app (and which app build), never your identifier. Manufacturers do not see conversations.
The chat identifier
The first time you use the chat, the chat service issues that random identifier. It is used only for your chat history and the chat's rate limits, and is never shared with RepConnect's usage statistics.
On the website it is held in one first-party cookie that scripts on the page cannot read, and that expires after one year. Clearing your cookies starts a fresh history.
In the apps it is held in the device's secure storage (the Keychain on iPhone and iPad) and is not synced to your other devices. On iPhone and iPad it may remain after the app is deleted and reinstalled, so the same history can return.
Abuse protection
To limit automated use, the chat counts requests per network address. Only a keyed one-way hash of the address is stored, never the address itself, and it is deleted within 24 hours. On the website, your first message also passes a Cloudflare Turnstile check; Cloudflare receives your network address for it, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy. The apps do not use Turnstile.
Usage statistics
We count chat messages, which tools answered them, which listings were shown, the app build a message came from, and messages the chat turned away under its usage limits, so manufacturers can see how often they come up. Those counts never contain the text of your messages.
